Building a Better Business Community happens one business at a time. Eagle Rock is reinventing itself once again. With the opening of new restaurants like Mia Sushi, Spitz, the Oinkster and Michaelangelo’s, Eagle Rock is heading into a mini restaurant boom, according to a recent article in the Los Angeles Times (March 22, 2006). It used to be the only reason to come and eat in this town was for Pizza at Casa Bianca or a steak at Colombo’s. But, then there was Fatty’s, Café Beaujolais, Camilio’s, and the Coffee Table. Each of these owners upped the ante for the caliber of restaurant businesses in Eagle Rock. Coming to eat in Eagle Rock is one thing, but staying to shop and walk around this wonderful town is another. If every one of us made an effort to get out and walk one block after eating on Colorado or Eagle Rock Blvd., we would find some pretty unique and wonderful retail shops and an art gallery right in our own backyard. The Collaborative Eagle Rock Beautiful works diligently to improve the look of Eagle Rock and I encourage you to support their efforts. By the time you receive this newsletter, the City Planning Commission will have already conducted a public hearing (4/13/06) regarding a proposed parking ordinance amendment on Colorado Blvd. There are many organizations working tirelessly to promote Eagle Rock as a destination of choice. The Chamber is just one of those organizations and we are committed to collaborating with others to enable our community to prosper and grow. As Eagle Rock becomes more visually appealing, more businesses will want to locate here. I’ve made a commitment to walk and shop and eat in Eagle Rock this year and I encourage you to do the same.
