HISTORY
EAGLE ROCK - THE COMMUNITY FOUNDED UPON A ROCK - 1911
Eagle Rock is one of seven communities that make up the Northeast section of Los Angeles. An estimated 24,000 residents live in Eagle Rock. There are approximately 600 businesses.
Nestled in the mountains to the north, Pasadena to the east and Glendale to the west, Eagle Rock is primarily a community of diverse single family residents. Location is everything, with the Glendale Freeway on the west and the 134 Freeway to the north, beaches, desert, mountains and downtown Los Angeles are only minutes away.
Eagle Rock maintains an average temperature of 72 degrees and is an ideal community to live in and raise a family. Eagle Rock's business district is on the move making it an ideal location for new business ventures.

THE EAGLE ROCK
Featuring a natural formation of an Eagle in flight the "Rock" is the name sake of the community, delclared an Historic Monument November 4, 1962. With community support it was purchased by the City of Los Angeles in 199 saving the property from development.
OCCIDENTAL COLLEGE
Occidental's beautiful Campus was designed by Pasadena architect Myron Hunt. Working in the Beaux Arts style. Hunt not only created a master plan for the campus but designed all 21 buildings erected from 1912 until his retirement in 1940.
LOS ANGELES POLICE HISTORICAL MUSEUM
Built in 1910 for the Los Angeles Police Department it was deactivated in 19 at which time the The LAPD Historical Society took over. This building is on the National Register of Historic Places and has been designated by the City as a Historic Cultural Monument.
THE EAGLE ROCK CITY HALL
Eagle Rock City Hall, circa 1927, is a Historic Cultural Monument which today houses The Field Office for Council District 14 and the Cities Building and Safety Department. This historic building also hosts community meetings.
THE CENTER FOR THE ARTS EAGLE ROCK
The original site of the Eagle Rock Library is noted for its significant cultural role in the development of the community. Originally constructed in 1914 it was redesigned in 1927 with a Spanish style exterior by architects H.C. Newton and R.D. Murray. This exquisite building is on the National Register of Historic Places and is also a Los Angeles City Historic Monument. Working with the cities Cultural Affairs Department the building hosts an array of workshops, performances and community events.
EAGLE ROCK JR & SR HIGH SCHOOL
Eagle Rock Junior & Senior High School is situated on a 24 acre campus. Housed on campus is also a Junior High Magnet Program for the gifted student. Eagle Rock High School first opened its door September 1927
